TRACK OF THE WEEK

Paul Woolford’s new alias Special Request is our pick for this week - techno warehouse vibes a’plenty, this release doesn’t mess about.

TRACK OF THE WEEK:

DJ Haus’ excellent Unknown to the Unknown imprint (who previously brought us wicked releases from DJ Q, Slackk & Detroit’s Stingray313… if that ain’t diverse I don’t know what is.)  present the debut release from Haus on the label - and its a ‘92 breakbeat meets ‘12 UK House and classic US house… Plus the Capracara takes the track to it’s jacking conclusion.  Not a release to be slept on!  Click the artwork to buy.

WELL ROUNDED PARTY THIS THURSDAY

Ok, hands up who loves Well Rounded? What everyone, yeah thought so. Well lucky for us all, as part of their UK tour they’ll be throwing a little party this Thursday at the Tube. The night boasts sets from label boss Donga, Manchester’s XXXY and Brighton’s adopted son Lorca and it’s only £4/5 to get in. Not only that but it’s also Donga’s birthday, so make sure you get yourself down to the seafront for a serious session of Birthday bumps!

LORCA RUNNING SHIT!

It’s only February and it’s already been a busy year for our man Lorca. Not only has he got a release coming out on Dummy (which you can listen to by clicking on le photo), but we’ve also got wind that he’s just been signed up to international booking agency Elastic Artists - massive congrats from everyone at AKA AKA ROAR! man!

TRACK OF THE WEEK - “JACKMASTER NUMBERS WHAREHOUSE PARTY MIX”

Ok, so this week’s track isn’t really a track. In fact, it’s not a track at all, it’s everyone’s favourite north of the border party boy and general badman Jackmaster’s mix from the wharehouse party they did in December. Check it out by clicking the photo and remember why he’s held in such high regard.

BTL GETS A BIT OF A FACE LIFT

AKA AKA ROAR! resident and motor mouthed, moonlighting promoter Stickie Davis has give the Below the Line website a bit of a shake up by introducing some new content including Dubloke’s “Grime Tune of the Week” and our very own full time grump and part time writer Nick AKAROAR!’s regular mixtape review. It also boasts a section introducing you to the BTL fam, where you can see AKA! promoter Paul Gibson doing his best Harry Potter impression and Nick AKAROAR! sporting a rather lovely ginger moustache, as well as the usual fun and frolics. Go check it out by clicking the image.

TRACK OF THE WEEK - JESSIE WARE “RUNNING”

This week’s track of the week was a bit of a toss up between Cassie’s new tune “King of Hearts” and this, Jessie Ware’s new tune. But you know what, we at AKA AKA ROAR! have always repped the UK, we’ve always repped the underground as well and so with that in mind this was obviously the clear winner, so well done Jessie - great track! The fact that Jessie didn’t feel the need to strip off OR get engaged to the personification of the bloated image of the American dream that is P Diddy also kind of helped.

TEMPLE ON THE PRODUCIO!

AKA AKA ROAR!’s resident whirling dervish and recent Night Slugs affiliate, Temple, has always been a badman on the decks but little beknownst to us he’s also been looked away in the country side getting his production tekkers up to scratch. Click the image for a link through to his soundcloud and his first foray into producing, the future dancefloor banger “Where Ma Ladies At”

THEO PARRISH AND JULIO BASHMORE TICKETS NOW ON SALE

So about this time last year we announced that we had James Blake, Joy Orbison and Blawan playing our next party. We also mentioned that tickets were selling like hot baked goods and you should probably go cop one before they sold out, which some wise heads did. The party sold out in advance and those with tickets got in and partied and witnessed the three headliners smash it, the people without tickets didn’t.

Our next party is with Theo Parrish and Julio Bashmore and though the limited early bird tickets have sold out in less than a week, you can still pick up a £7 ticket from the link below. Don’t be a mug and do the wise thing.

APPLEBLIM GIVES THE TUBE A PROPPER SEND OFF

If you managed to brave the elements for the first ever AKA AKA ROAR! (cough, cough, cheap plug…) or were lucky enough to check out Life’s 2nd Birthday with Berlin legend Marcel Dettman you’ll know that Bristol’s finest and Applepips head honcho Appleblim really knows how kill it. So who better to take charge of the decks (for 4 hours!) whilst we all say goodbye to The Tube one final time than the man in question! Support comes from AKA AKA ROAR!’s own Lorca and as usual it’s cheaper than a Whitehawk whore. For more info click the photo…
